Genesis 1:1–3

Trusting God in the Messy Middle

Genesis begins with God speaking into what is formless and unfinished. A reflection on trusting His work before we can see the finished result.

Reading Genesis 1, I was struck by the way creation unfolds. God speaks, and then what He has spoken begins to take shape. Scripture shows us order emerging step by step—and it made me think differently about the unfinished places in our own lives.

Genesis 1:1–3

Genesis 1:1–3 states: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light."
