About

A quiet space to read Scripture

For years, ministry was a big part of my everyday life. Now I’m in a very different season as a stay-at-home mom, and if I’m being real, I’ve wrestled a little with what that means for my time, my purpose, and where God wants me right now.

I’m learning to lean into the idea that maybe God has me rooted right here for a reason, even if this season looks different than the ones before it.

Rooted Reflections really grew out of that.

I wanted a place where I could slow down with Scripture, ask questions, wrestle with things I don’t completely understand, and pay attention to what God might be teaching me instead of feeling like I need to have everything figured out.

With God’s help, I started turning those reflections into these studies and sharing them here.

I’m not a theologian with all the answers. I’m a mom who has spent years in ministry and is still learning, seeking, questioning, and growing in my own faith.

My hope is simply that something God is teaching me in this season might encourage you in yours too.

Maybe being rooted doesn’t mean we’re stuck.

Maybe sometimes God is growing the deepest things in us right where He has planted us.

How I Study

A note about Bible translations

Throughout these studies, you’ll notice that I don’t always use the same Bible translation. I most often pull from the NIV, ESV, CSB, and NLT, and from time to time, I’ll even use wording from a children’s Bible.

I actually love doing that.

Sometimes the simplest words can carry just as much weight. And if you’re a parent, I think there is something especially meaningful about learning to understand Scripture in a way that can live in you—and then, at just the right moment, flow naturally from you to your child.

I believe deeply in allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us through the Word. Scripture doesn’t always need to sound like a lecture. It should become something we know, understand, wrestle with, remember, and eventually speak from the heart.

That is also one of the reasons I move between translations as I study. I want to slow down and really dig into what God is saying—not simply choose the wording that best fits what I already think.

There are moments when I feel the Spirit gently reminding me, “Hannah, discern this. Look again. Dig deeper.”

My desire is to let Scripture reveal who God is, rather than unintentionally shaping Him into who I think He should be.

So when you see different translations throughout these studies, that’s why. I’m looking at the words from different angles, comparing them, praying through them, and asking God to help me see Him—and His Word—more clearly.

Support

Support Rooted Reflections

Rooted Reflections is something I feel deeply called to create. These studies are, and will always remain, free to read and share with anyone who may need them.

There are small costs that come with creating and maintaining everything here—artwork and licensing, Canva, website expenses, and other resources I use as I build each study. I’m happy to invest in this work because I believe in it.

If Rooted Reflections has encouraged you and you ever feel led to support what I’m creating, you’re welcome to contribute. There is absolutely no expectation to give. Reading, sharing a study with a friend, or simply being here means so much to me.

Any support received simply helps with the tools and resources that go into creating new studies. Rooted Reflections will always remain free, whether you give or not.

Thank you for being here and growing alongside me.
